1) St. Patricks day celebrates St. Patrick, one of the patron saints on Ireland. its celebrated on March 17 and is celebrated all around the world. The day usually involves green beer, and good ole' get togethers. Shamrocks are usually seen through windows and green on peoples backs. the irish have observed St. Patricks day as a religous holiday for many year and its a day to drink dance and feast.
2) in many places parades, concerts, plays and outdoor productions take place. also fireworks are show in many cases. Traditionally its celebrated as the feast and anniversery of St. Patricks death. Irish families would traditionally attend church in the morning and celebrate in the afternoon. prohibitions against the consumption of meat were waived and people would dance, drink, and feast—on the traditional meal of Irish bacon and cabbage.
3) the traditional icon is the Shamrock, and its importance is that according to legend it was used by St. Patrick in explaining the doctrine of the Trinity, is is now the emblem of Ireland.
4) reasons why i'm lucky?
a) I think i'm pretty lucky because i was chosen for Outward Bound this year, and i get to go mountin climbing! thats pretty lucky
b) I haven't been seriously injured before( knock on wood)
c) I'm lucky because i'm fortunate and i live a good life?!
5) the first day of spring is around March 20 and 21 depending on the equinox. i'm not sure exactly.
6) the event this weekend in Winnipeg is the " Tim Hortons Brier" and its the canadian mens curling championship. I think that Alberta might win because there stats right now are 11-0!
